Article: The way that we were all taught to let our babies sleep is now causing them learning disabilities. A study of 476 babies is being done, of which 40% have the flattened head syndrome. There have been ways to fix babies that do suffer from a flattened head, but ways to prevent it include: changing babies head positions while they are sleeping, providing more tummy time, and not letting babies sleep in their car seats or bouncey chairs.
I suffer, yes I do say suffer from plagiocephaly. My mother never turned me in the crib so as the result of her child neglect the back of my head is flat.
ReplyDeleteI developed low self-esteem. I was a slow learner, still am, never excelling in anything. I became reclusive over time, I wear a hat to hide the embarrassing shape of my head. I have to search a child's head size to get a hat that will fit. I can honestly say if asked, "do you hate your mother?" my answer would be yes because of her negligence and the way it's affected my life.
